2020 Beauty Trends: New fillers, new skin tighteners ahead in forecast

January 8, 2020 by Davis

[ABC 6 Action News: 1/7/2020]

Cherry Hill, NJ Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Steven Davis of Davis CPS discusses 2020 beauty trends. Dr. Davis predicts that 2020 is the year that the unnatural look fades away.

Dr. Davis says surgical techniques are more refined and more products are coming on the market. He expects a new generation of fillers, created for specific spots like the chin, jawline, or hollows at the temple.

These fillers will go closer to the bone to support from underneath, rather than just plumping the skin.

For more on this topic, Dr. Davis addresses 2020 Beauty Trends in his latest podcast: The Plastic Surgery Revolution.

Snapchat Dysmorphia Transcript

Plastic surgeons are seeing a rise in what industry professionals are calling Snapchat dysmorphia. Now joining us to discuss the associated mental health with editing your appearance is Dr. Steven Davis. Dr. Davis we appreciate you being here.

What sort of social apps or media apps are we seeing the biggest issues with this, obviously, I would imagine Snapchat is one of the bigger ones.

Snapchat, Instagram, things like that, where you can actually have filters applied, is really causing an interesting situation. Because you know, years ago, people would come in with a picture from something in Vogue magazine, or People Magazine, and they say, Oh, this celebrity, I want to look like that person right now. They come in with their own phones. And they’ve doctored it up to make it look like they want the look. And they say that’s exactly how I would like to look, it’s crazy. It is it is. But it’s something that just kind of is formed, I guess over time of seeing and using these filters, is that correct? It’s true. And the problem with it is, so there’s a good and a bad with it.

All right, the good thing about it is, as a plastic surgeon, I get to know what their aesthetic values are. So I can see they made their nose smaller, they made something else happen. I can understand, that’s what they’re going for in their looks. The bad part about it is, it’s an unrealistic expectation a lot of time. So some of the things that they’re changing on their face, is really not something that can be done, easily, let’s say it’s going to be a big deal. And I don’t think that these younger folks understand what that really means.

But when is it too much? Because, you know, we do a lot of retouching on some of our photos, and say, okay, you have actually gone overboard at this.

So I’ll give you a couple of these signs to look for. But one of the ones that I think out of all the ones that I’ve given you to really look for, is, if it’s starting to affect your personal interaction with people, if you’re starting to hurt you in school, or your relationships with others, or at work, that’s when I think you really have to like step in as a parent or someone else to really like talk about this. A lot of times, it’s really a good thing, I’ll have parents come in with their children who really want to do something. And I turned out to be the bad guy. So I have the parents come in, and it is a good thing for me to be the bad guy, right?

So that the parents come in and go, look, I don’t want to have to deal with this thing right now, please help me explain to the kids, this isn’t something that you can just flippantly do. I’ll say you’re really much you know, more wonderful than you expect, you know, in based on your photos, why don’t you give it a little bit more time. Let’s see if that’s really what you want to do. In a year or so.

I’m curious how, how young? Are you seeing some of the folks that are coming in 15 to 16, right, things like that. I mean, it could be the case is before the body’s even done progress, right?

And there’s some things that really do need to be fixed. So we see some patients that were born with certain kind of disorders or certain kind of birth deformities. And they you know, naturally, that’s a totally different subject. But what we’re talking about here is just things where, you know, it’s an unrealistic expectation for what you can really achieve on that filter that they’re showing you on their phone.
Do you think that these companies should start taking some type of responsibility for this?

Well, I think that’s what’s starting to happen. So recently, as of about a week ago, Instagram actually started to talk about doing some Did you see that? They’re starting to talk about, you know, restricting the ages, but when people can actually start using some of these filters, and I think it’s probably going to be a good thing.
It’s something that we probably will see kind of expand a little bit with the other social media apps as well. Absolutely. Dr. Davis, incredibly important topic. Thank you so much for coming in. Thank you so much. Thank you. All right, well, coming up this morning dinner tonight.

Now there’s a new procedure that some doctors say can give you the results of doing 20,000 sit ups and just half an hour, but does it work? It was the happiest day and Danielle Thomas I was like, well not all love stories have a happy ending. Two years after her wedding Danielle is divorced. And now she wants to look her best newly divorced, looking to feel great. And find Mr. Right? The 37 year old medical tech. He’s incredibly fit. And while you may think she has a body to die for, Danielle thinks she needs a little tweaking. I just want to tie in the area my family so I can feel confident when I’m at the pool and hopefully have my butt a little tighter.

Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon Dr. Steven Davis in Cherry Hill New Jersey is using a breakthrough device called Emsculpt to give Danielle a tighter tummy and butt. We’ve never really been able to do something to grow muscle or to tone muscle. And that’s what this is actually allowing us to do..

It works by delivering powerful electro stimulation that actually builds muscles in her backside. This is actually pushing everything up. And that’s how we getting this butt lifting affect the treatment last half an hour.

Target Fat With FLASH: A Quick Fix for Targeted Fat Pockets

August 21, 2019 by Davis

Do you want to target fat quickly? Recently Dr. Steven Davis was published in Modern Aesthetics Magazinem about his innovative FLASH procedure.

Dr. Davis explains, “Here’s the scenario: A patient comes in with a small pocket of fat she wants removed before taking that beach vacation next week. Minimally invasive high-tech options abound, but they can take weeks and possibly more than one treatment to deliver results. Your patient is looking for immediate gratification. What do you do?

It’s this kind of scenario that inspired the targeted fat removal approach I market as FLASH, or Fat Lipo Away Same Hour. It’s very effective. It’s very inexpensive. And the fat’s completely gone in under an hour.”

Davis Cosmetic Plastic SurgeryFLASH is a simple procedure and that’s the beauty of it. I still discuss other options with the patient—and each has its place—but FLASH offers a quick fix that satisfies when the desire or need is for instant gratification. It’s important to note that this approach is designed to treat small fat zones.
For body contouring in larger areas, standard liposuction (with or without mechanical assistance) is more appropriate.

Plastic Surgeon Dr. Steven L. Davis D.O on Good Day Philadelphia Weekend (Aug 10, 2019, WTXFDT)

Transcription:
People tend to change what they eat for different reasons. But have you ever heard of a good skin diet researchers have found fitting certain foods into your daily routine can help fix your face, especially when it comes to wrinkles. plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Davis agrees and also add it’s not just what you eat, but also what you should avoid. Good morning. Thanks a lot. Hi, how you doing? I’m good. You’re going to start with the age advances that things that you think sometimes add a little age to our skin?

Absolutely. Because you know, we’re putting stuff on our skin every single day to make us look younger. Yes, better. And if you’re doing things internally by eating certain foods that are kind of going against that it’s a bad idea. Right. So some of the things that we know right off the bat, processed meats, yeah, things in it like sulfites that are actually breaking down our own collagen, fatty kinds of foods, like heavy starches, do the same thing. But one of the other things that most people really don’t think about when you’re thinking about, like sodas, and if you’re drinking real sugary soda, radio ads can be good, right? Yeah. But if you’re even drinking diet type Coke, yes, and sodas and things like that. That’s also bad for you. Because it’s destroying the lot of the things that we’re doing inside. One of the big things that we’re doing is plastic surgeons is we’re using our own body and your own body materials. So we can take your blood, spin it down. Yes. reinjected into your face, put it into your hair so that your hair starts Well,

If your blood is full of sugar and bad thing. It’s not going to work as well.

We can take our own body fat, and like transfer from places where you don’t want it to be. Yeah. And put it in places like you do want.

But if that fat is unhealthy, it’s not going to work as well, either. So that’s when we start thinking about what kinds of foods can we actually do? And put almost like an internal protection, okay, against things like sun damage, right? pollution?

And we’re talking men and women, right? absolute right. I know, a lot of times people think skin, we just think women, but it’s men and women. And again, when we’re thinking about skin, I think as a plastic surgeon, we think about skin all the time about wrinkles and things but it also is like a little window to what you’re doing to your organs inside God because things that actually make your collagen and your cells stronger are actually working to make your liver and your heart and other things inside proper letter. I like one of the things that we love our good fats, okay. Things like avocados are wonderful fat, okay, they have great sources of vitamin A, and people that have problems with their skin. If you have like, a lot of acne problems, yeah, prone to being acting Pro. You can use this and it actually regulates your Sieben production, like your oil production. That’s good to know, things like tomatoes, another wonderful source of almost like an internal way of wearing sunscreen. You know, every plastic surgeon dermatologist, they’ll tell you, you got to put a lot of sunscreen because of the UVA UVB rays, right? Well just think if you can actually eat something that was almost like a scavenger inside your body that’s working from the inside out. Exactly. Okay, that’s the same thing with carrots and things like beta carotene. Those things also are like absorbing all those bad UVA and UVB rays that are coming into your body. They’re working in your body to kind of like scavenger hunt.

And we also know proteins always good.

Proteins are probably the building blocks of our skin. Two big things in our skin are collagen and elastin. Both of those things are proteins. So the more protein that you can actually furnish to your body, you’re actually building better structure so that you look younger, and

Dr. Steven Davis, let me make sure I understand this, the more we age, the collagen starts to break down, right? So you need more protein to kind of help build that back up exact and the reason why it’s breaking down is because our cells are being like attacked all the time by things like bad food. Yeah, like sun damage and things like that. If we can actually protect ourselves and make the cells turnover quicker into a healthier thing. We’re doing a great idea. I love this.

Dr. Steven Davis in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in Philadelphia. Thanks for joining us. Thank you very much. I love this. Eat your way to good skin guys.

“We’ve been getting so many phone calls from everyone that is just so worried,” said Dr. Steven Davis about Wednesday’s recall of Allergan breast implants.

Listen to the interview:

Interview Transcription:

Dr. Steven Davis who has offices in Cherry Hill, Northfield in Philadelphia says since the Allergen textured breast implant recall announcement he’s had a noticeable increase in calls the phone calls are just they want to schedule their surgery to just have them removed even before we tell them that it’s not the implants that have been recalled. They just feel like you know, I don’t know if I need to even worry about this.

We call this specifically for our again textured breast implants which have been linked to a LCL or breast implant associated large cell lymphoma. All breast implants come with an identification card. Many of the patients have that but if you don’t know you can definitely call the plastic surgeon or the office that did the surgery and find out exactly what can you have and if you don’t have the alligator textured implants, but you are experiencing symptoms and discomfort. Dr. Davis recommends getting your implants checked out especially if they’re over 15 years old either swelling or some pain. That would be a reason right off the bat to go into see your plastic surgeon.
