Achieve Your Beauty Resolutions in 3 Steps

January 15, 2016 by Davis

Did you set specific resolutions about your appearance this year? Chances are you did! But do you have a plan for achieving them? Unfortunately, Forbes reports that only 8% of people achieve theirs each year. But don’t worry… We can help! Just consider these 3 simple steps:

1. Make Your Goals Specific
Those generic, broad-scope resolutions to “lose weight” and “look younger” are likely a fast path to failure. If you make your goals more specific — “get rid of love handles,” “smooth out wrinkles,” “wear sunscreen every day!” — you’ll know exactly what you need to do and be more likely to take the necessary action to meet those goals.

2. Make Them Realistic
While a having a specific plan is a fantastic step in the right direction, it’s also important to consider how realistic it is.

  • “I want to look more rested.” Yes —Easily achieved with Botox or a brow lift.
  • “I want to look 25 years younger.” No — A facelift can turn the clock back by about 10 years. We’re not sure how you’d shave off 25…
  • “I want to lose a couple of inches on my thighs.” Yes — Easily achieved with lipo or CoolSculpting.
  • “I want to lose 20 inches all over.” No — Unfortunately, nothing in the plastic surgeon’s office is a weight-loss solution. There’s also a limit to fat removal, for safety’s sake.

3. Plan Your Budget
So what’s it going to cost… and how are you going to pay for it? Simple: First, you book your consultation to find out what exactly what amount you’re budgeting for this year. Second, you determine if you’re going to need financing options, such as those offered through CareCredit. Either way, we’re here to help, so just ask if you have a question or need any kind of assistance.

Happy New Year!

Weight Loss Inspiration

January 15, 2016 by Davis

It’s that time of the year when a significant number of Americans resolve to get healthy and lose weight. For those who have 100 pounds or more to lose, it often becomes a question of surgical options, such as gastric bypass. But surgery doesn’t always stop there, especially when the resulting weight loss leaves behind a whole lot of hanging, empty skin. Enter Dr. Davis.

“When people gain a tremendous amount of weight, the skin stretches out,” Dr. Davis told Prevention in a recent article. “Then when they lose that weight quickly, they’re left with loose, hanging, empty skin.”

This loose skin is often removed using some combination of body lift, leg lift, arm lift and breast lift procedures.

According to Dr. Davis, “As a general rule of thumb, each of these procedures ranges from $5,000 to $15,000.” Further, each procedure requires about 2 weeks of recovery and around 8 weeks before having another.

Yes, addressing skin issues can be a lot more expensive and time consuming than the initial weight loss surgery. However, patients who have going through the whole process will tell you that they’d do it all again to achieve their results.

For Dr. Davis’ patient Antoinette Liberati, choosing to to have post weight loss plastic surgery was part of her transformative process. “Once that [excess skin] was gone, I really felt like I had accomplished something,” she told the magazine.

3 Cosmetic Surgery Trends in 2016

January 15, 2016 by Davis

It’s always hard to predict what the New Year will bring in terms of cosmetic surgery trends, but that’s part of the fun of it! So what will we see in 2016? Dr. Davis believes, at the very least, that it will include these three:

1. More men will have cosmetic surgery
Since 1997, there’s been a whopping 273% increase in the number of cosmetic procedures men are having. Despite the historical differences between men and women when it comes to anti-aging treatments, it’s a trend that Dr. Davis expects will continue to grow — a point he demonstrates in a recent FOX29 story that asks, “Do real men get Botox?”

While some guys think cosmetic treatments are “girlie stuff,” others, like Dr. Davis’ 40-something-year-old male patient featured in the story, realize that as they get older, it takes more than a fit body and sharp wardrobe to look their best, even if it means admitting they visit Dr. Davis for Botox.

The key to good Botox results for men? It’s is delivering results that aren’t overdone, says Dr. Davis. And that means no frozen or “feminine” faces.

Is your man ready to give it a go?

2. Continued focus below the chin
If you don’t like the way your neck looks, join the club! We have the selfie phenomenon to thank for the explosive cosmetic focus below the chin… and technological innovations for non-surgical solutions! In 2015, both Kybella — an injectable fat dissolving product — and the CoolMini — CoolSculpting technology’s handpiece for under-the-chin treatment — introduced safe and effective surgical alternatives to getting rid of the double chin that plagues so many of us. We’ve only seen the beginning of this trend. Expect it to grow in 2016!

3. Better curves with non-surgical body contouring
We know it… you probably know it too. Liposuction is the gold standard for fat reduction and body contouring. But that doesn’t mean other, non-surgical options aren’t just what the doctor ordered when it comes to targeting specific trouble areas.

  • Cryolipolysis (CoolSculpting) literally freezes fat and has proven itself for years to deliver safe, effective results for love handles, thighs, the tummy and back.
  • ?Radio frequency (Body Fx) is another safe and effective solution for fat reduction with the added benefit of skin tightening.

We know the appeal of treatment results without downtime, and that’s why these treatments will trend this year.
