Daily Mail TV with Dr. Steven Davis: Reaction to Facial Fillers May Be Seen with COVID Vaccine

April 16, 2021 by Davis

There has been a lot of news in the media lately regarding facial fillers and the COVID vaccine. As Dr. Steven Davis has mentioned in previous videos, swelling that may occur where your fillers were injected after receiving the vaccine is normal and shouldn’t be something to be overly worried about.

Still, if you experience severe swelling, consult your doctor immediately. Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, we recommend having an over-the-counter fix on hand after receiving the vaccine. Benadryl is an excellent choice to bring down the swelling that may occur.

For more on the reaction you may experience at the spot of your facial filler injection after receiving the COVID vaccine, tune in below as Dr. Steven Davis makes an appearance on the Daily Mail.

[Transcript]

  • Moving on now. We are learning about some new fears for people who have cosmetic fillers and have developed facial swelling after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Some patients have experienced a swelling in the areas where they had some injectables. And this has been seen before with other types of vaccinations. What happens is the body basically goes into a fight mode.
  • Now, if you do find yourself in a situation where you are swelling up after getting a vaccination, you should, of course, consult your doctor immediately. But Dr. Steven Davis, a board certified plastic surgeon, also recommends having an over-the-counter fix ready.
  • Things like a Benadryl.
  • Dr. Davis also recommends a two-week buffer window between any fillers and the vaccine to prevent any swelling at all.

Dr. Steven Davis of Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in Cherry Hill, New Jersey wants to ensure the comfort of all patients, which begins with education. We hope our video series can provide useful information for those with upcoming appointments or interested in the behind-the-scenes action of plastic surgery.

Dr. Davis Uses ‘Fire and Ice’ Fat Crystallization Procedure to Target Back Fat

April 9, 2021 by Davis

“Jamie Wallace runs five miles a day and exercises with a trainer to lose the weight she put on during quarantine. While she’s made progress, she says she can’t seem to get rid of stubborn bra fat. She isn’t alone, according to Dr. Steven Davis of New Jersey. He says women come into his office all the time complaining about how they can’t get rid of the extra skin in that area. For people like Jamie, who hate needles, Davis recommends a nonsurgical procedure he calls “fire and ice.”’ – Inside Edition

[Transcript]

  • [Narrator] She got rid of the dreaded “quarantine 15,” except for one problem area.
  • You can see this fat hanging over.
  • [Narrator] Jamie Wallace runs five miles a day and exercises with a trainer.
  • And squeeze in, perfect, good.
  • [Narrator] But she still can’t get rid of stubborn bra fat.
  • It’s got to go.
  • Hi, how are you?
  • Hi Dr. Davis, how are you?
  • Good, nice to see you
  • Good
  • Come on in
  • [Narrator] Dr. Steven Davis of Cherry Hill, New Jersey says Jamie isn’t alone.
  • This right here is what I’m seeing all the women coming in to talk about. No matter how much exercising that you’re doing, this skin and this little bit of fat really doesn’t go away.
  • I’m embarrassed of it.
  • [Narrator] She also hates needles, So Dr. Davis recommends a non-surgical procedure he calls, Fire and Ice.
  • The first part of it is really freezing the fat and literally killing those fat cells. The second part is, I’m using really hot energy that’s gonna go into the skin and cause that skin to shrink and tighten.
  • [Narrator] Dr. Davis marks the problem zones.
  • This is more of the central area, almost like the bullseye of the whole thing.
  • I’m very excited.
  • [Narrator] Step one freeze the fat cells into ice-like crystals.
  • It really does just go after the fat. It’s not gonna hurt the skin, It’s not gonna hurt the muscle that’s surrounding it, it’s not gonna hurt any of the other tissues. Is that the way it feels?
  • It’s cold but it’s refreshing.
  • [Narrator] Now, step two, Dr. Davis uses a radio frequency device that blasts penetrating heat to liquefy the fat crystals and also tighten the skin.
  • The fat gets excreted by your body, over the course of the next three to four weeks.
  • [Narrator] The left side hasn’t gotten the heat yet. Now look at the right side.
  • This area here, is flatter. I can’t even squeeze this anymore. There’s no surgery, there’s no downtime. She could literally go back to like exercising later on today.
  • [Narrator] Jamie is ready to check out her results. Even right after the procedure, you can see the difference.
  • Wow, that’s a huge difference. They used to hang over.

So, if you feel as if this treatment is ideal for you and a small area of your body, don’t hesitate to give Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in Cherry Hill, NJ, a shout!

Tune in and learn all about the possibilities behind KYBELLA®, the results speak for themselves!

[Transcript]

Hi, everyone. I wanted to talk to you a little bit about what I’m seeing a lot of in the office these days. And the idea is to try to utilize as many new procedures, and techniques, and concepts, and even products in all different areas of the body.

And one of these areas happens to be small pockets of fat that patients really don’t want to have a surgical procedure for. So what we have is something called Kybella.

It’s been used for a very long time now to treat under the chin areas, of a little bit of fat along the jawline, neck, if you have a double chin, you may have heard about it before.

But one thing that you may not realize is that we can actually utilize this same product in other areas of the body, that you may have little pockets of fat. Ideally it will be small areas, maybe like on the inside of the arm here, or on the back of the arm, even the knee area. Some areas like that, that you just are having a difficult time getting rid of with just diet and exercise.

So next time you’re thinking about that while you’re looking in the mirror, think about other ways of getting rid of this using different kinds of procedures, or different kinds of products. And I’ll talk to you again about more things next week.

Top 3 Trending Cosmetic Procedures for Men

March 19, 2021 by Davis

Continuing the conversation from last week on popular procedures for men in 2021, let’s dive into the top three cosmetic procedures we’re seeing here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. After being inside staring at ourselves on Zoom calls all day, it’s no surprise these three procedures have surged in popularity.

The most notable trending cosmetic procedures for men are a follows:

  1. Liposuction
  2. Eyelid blepharoplasty
  3. Neck lift

Watch this week’s episode to learn more about these treatments for men, and stay tuned to hear all about our latest installment, the “turkey neck revision.”

[Transcript]

Top three things that I’m seeing here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery that have to do with men. One is liposuction, two is upper eyelid blepharoplasty, and three is a neck lift.

Now, we all know that the liposuction thing has been something that’s been very, very popular over many years now with men, mainly for abdomen, love handle type things. Where your diet and exercise just isn’t really getting rid of those areas.

But the two things that have really sprung up a lot ever since the pandemic hit is a lot of men seeing themselves on Zoom calls or just working from home and really seeing themselves so much on a camera that they’re noticing that the upper eyelid skin is really something that’s not only bothersome, but it makes them look older.

And the second thing is looking at their neck and noticing that there’s so much redundant skin there. We have two great ways of fixing both of them, and they’re so easy for men. You gotta watch the upcoming videos on the exact way to get rid of the turkey neck and the upper eyelid skin.

Popular Cosmetic Procedures for Men in 2021

March 12, 2021 by Davis

With pandemic protocols in place, we’ve been looking at ourselves more than ever, so now is the perfect time to have that cosmetic procedure performed that you’ve been waiting for.

To achieve that youthful and glowing look so many seek, these top 3 popular procedures for men in 2021 are excellent places to start. Exercise can only go so far as sometimes those love handles just don’t seem to go away. This is where we can help!

Contact Dr. Steven Davis directly by pressing here, or give us a ring to talk more about these popular procedures for men. Your new & improved look is just a phone call away!

[Transcript]

Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, We’ve been seeing a lot of men coming in to talk about different things. And the three top things that I’ve seen over the past let’s say six to eight months are eyelid surgeries, neck lifts, and liposuction.

Now the liposuction is something that we’ve been seeing as a trend for multiple, multiple years now where a lot of men are trying to exercise and diet, but they just can’t get rid of the love handle or something like that so that’s where we’ve been doing a lot of liposuctioning.

But the blepharoplasty or the upper eyelid and the neck lift where a lot of men are coming in talking about that turkey neck kind of a look, I think is all being stemmed from seeing themselves so much on zoom calls and just from this whole pandemic where you’re just staying home and really seeing a lot of yourselves.

So the upper eyelid surgery is such an amazing transformative thing for most people, but especially men that don’t really wanna do a lot of cosmetic type things this is a way of just looking more youthful and also cleaning up that whole area of maybe just extra skin and with that same way of thinking, a lot of times the extra amount of skin that’s just in this area, can really be treated very very easily in men as opposed to women.

And I’m gonna do a whole segment on that coming up, but just remember we’re gonna call it the Turkey Neck Revision. So look forward to that in the next coming weeks.

Dr. Steven Davis on Face Lift Alternative – Daily Mail TV

March 5, 2021 by Davis

In the modern-day of cosmetic plastic surgery, it’s remarkable how many minimally-invasive options are out there for patients to choose from. With recent advances in radio-frequency techniques, a complete facelift is no longer necessary to achieve incredible results. The FaceTite procedure has become an industry standard, and we’re here to tell you why!

Join Dr. Steven Davis on Daily Mail TV as he covers Paula Abdul’s recent endorsement of FaceTite and why this procedure is so innovative. As the perfect balance between being minimally invasive and maximally effective, FaceTite is an excellent choice for anyone.

Get in touch with us today to learn more about the advancements behind FaceTite! Or, set up a virtual consultation with Dr. Davis, and let’s get started.

[Transcript]

  • Keeping your chin up, literally. Paula Abdul’s doing it. She’s got a tighter, sleeker jawline and a more chiseled chin. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Davis says the procedure Abdul had done is quite popular and both agree, it’s a great alternative to a full-blown facelift.
  • The hottest thing right now is a jawline.
  • It’s minimally invasive.
  • Okay, okay.
  • No visible scars. Downtime, I was out, walking around two or three days.
  • people are really searching for something that is going to make a jawline or the face look sharper and sleeker without going through too much of a surgical procedure.
  • [Jesse] Paula used a procedure created by a company called InMode.
  • So it’s radio frequency laser technique.
  • We’re using radio frequency energy, which we know shrinks and tightens skin amazingly well. So that you’re melting some fat that may be along the jawline and the jaw area, as well as the neck area. And as you’re melting that fat, you’re also causing the tissue surrounding the fat, like the skin that sits above it to get tighter. And we’re able to do it by making a small little opening in the skin. Where Paula had it done, will be right underneath her chin and behind both little earlobe areas. And the incision literally is about the width of my little fingernail. And through that little opening, this tip would go under the skin and this thermistor sits on top of the skin. And then when we squeeze this together, we’re actually causing that connection to happen. The machine is constantly reading the temperature to make sure that it doesn’t overheat, either on the skin or under the skin. While you’re doing it, you literally can see what we call thermal retraction. So, not only are you noticing that the fat is being emulsified because you can literally hear it sizzling. You can also see the contour starting to change, but when you hit the right temperature that you’re going through, you can literally see the skin start to retract. After you do all that, if there was a good enough amount of fat to be removed, you can then go into those same little openings and very elegantly, just suck it out.
  • Dr. Davis says, depending on how much liposuction is necessary, the procedure usually takes from 45 minutes to an hour. A local anesthetic like Novocaine is used to numb the area or, If you’re a wimp like me they can give you an Ativan.
  • You can give them like an oral Valium or something as a little bit of a sedative if you wanted to. But most patients love the idea that you don’t have to be under general anesthesia to have this.
  • [Jesse] That’s something that makes this option more popular because there’s less risk associated with the procedure. Dr. Davis cautions that although you are up and walking around within days, it takes a good six weeks to three months for complete recovery. He calls this radio frequency laser treatment the perfect in-between. Because it’s a permanent procedure that’s in-between simply getting fillers or going for a full blown facelift.
  • You’re gonna continue to age, obviously, but this is a permanent change to that area.
  • Look.
  • Paula Abdul is the brand ambassador for InMode, the company which developed the procedure she used. Dr. Davis says what Paula had done can cost between 35 and $6,500, and that’s compared to a full-blown facelift that can run anywhere from 15 to 25,000 bucks.

As skin care continues to be a trending topic, Dr. Davis made an appearance on PHL17 with Demetria Green to discuss how certain foods can affect the health of your skin. It may sound simple, but eliminating a few sugary foods from your diet and adding in what Dr. Davis refers to as “Wrinkle Wreckers” can make a significant difference.

  • Whole milk

Learn more about how adjusting your diet can leave your skin glowing by tuning in to Dr. Steven Davis on PHL17.

  • Well, one of the latest trends in beauty, is skin care. Many women and men are buying creams, even serums, to get the best skin possible. But, did you know that what you eat also can have a positive impact on your skin. So, one plastic surgeon says that changing your diet can keep you looking young and fresh. He joins us now live. Dr. Steven Davis is a local board certified plastic surgeon. Good morning, and thanks for joining us today.
  • Good morning, good morning Demetria. Hi.
  • So, we often hear the phrase “You are what you eat”, so tell us how our diet can actually have an affect on our skin, both good and bad.
  • Well, you know, as a plastic surgeon, you know, I’ve been operating for a very long time now, and when I sit down with my patients, you know, over the years, I’ve really said, you know, what could you do to try to help the overall results that I’m trying to get for you. Because, as plastic surgeons we’re trying to get the most incredible results for the patients all the time. So, what we decided to do was to really sit down and, instead of just giving out vitamins and supplements, and things like that, what if we could tell you about certain foods that you could just add to your diet. And certain foods that you could take away from your diet, to try to not only enhance the results that I’m gonna give you, but what about protecting the investment for what you just spent on this incredible, you know, cosmetic plastic surgery. So, that’s where we started to come up with the foods that, you know, again, it’s not that difficult to really add a few of these to the meals, and to also subtract some of these that are not so great for you. And, again, with everything that everyone’s going through with COVID-19, it’s also a great thing to think about trying to stay as healthy for your immune system, as possible. And, when we go over some of these foods, they do have an incredible result in just maintaining your immune system to be able to fight off any viruses and other types of things that may be coming down the pike.
  • I love that. They have so many different benefits, and it’s such an easy thing to do. So, I do want to get to these foods because, you call them the Wrinkle Wreckers, and they’re right here. The foods to stay away from. You say, butter, whole milk, margarine, red meat or processed meat, potatoes, sugar and soft drinks. So, why is it so important for us to stay away from those?
  • If you are gonna clump all these things together and say “Why are these things bad?”, here’s the real issue. The issue is that a lot of these sugary type foods, a lot of these, um, buttery or processed meats, are breaking down our system in not being able to let us do our normal repair of our skin cells. Because, every day, as we’re getting older, our cells are turning over. And, if we can get these cells to turn over, in a health manner, you’re gonna look more healthy and younger. The word free radicals is probably something that a lot of people have heard. It’s not a good thing. Because, free radicals are something that kind of scramble around in your system and start tearing apart actually healthy organs and, let’s not forget that one of the biggest organs in the body, if not the biggest, is the skin. So, when we’re talking about wrinkles and things like that, we wanna make sure that we’re fortifying that organ as best as possible. And, one of the best things that we could do, is to try to eliminate things like a sugary substance, that really is going to impact the cell itself and break down the cell wall in such a way that you don’t really look, um, as moisturized, you’re not gonna make your skin look as healthy as it could be. And let’s be honest, when we’re doing facelifts, when we’re doing tummy tucks, when we’re doing things where we’re actually purposely trying to get that skin to be tighter and more youthful, we wanna feed this as best as we can so that it looks so juicy and healthy. So, those are really the concepts there.
  • I love that, but Dr. Davis, those are all of my favorite foods that were listed in there, so that hurt my heart a little bit.
  • You don’t have to completely eliminate them. The concept, and that’s the reason why I think it makes so much sense, because if you had that list of what’s good, and we can go over those too, and what’s bad, you just have to try to get more to the good side than to the bad side.
  • [Demetria] Of course.
  • And I think you can really start to notice how much healthier you not only feel, but you actually are doing something to help the way you’re gonna look.
  • Exactly. Well, Dr. Davis, we are short on time. Where can people go for more information to find out about those good foods that can help your skin?
  • It’s Davis CPS, DavisCosmeticPlasticSurgery.com. And it was really great talking to you, especially on inauguration day.
  • It was great talking to you too today. Well, you have a good one, okay?
  • Buh-bye.

Various Lip Filler Products & Techniques

February 19, 2021 by Davis

With so many different topics in the world of plastic surgery, sometimes we forget to cover some of the most basic treatments we offer. Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in Cherry Hill, NJ, lip fillers remain one of the most popular procedures in past years. Whether it’s making lips look more plump or youthful, there are a few basic concepts you should understand about fillers.

Have you been confused seeing tons of different lip filler products and techniques on social media? Dr. Davis is here to break down exactly what’s going on.

Before you go into your local plastic surgery office, always ask your surgeon which products they are using and why. We’re here to let you know each product is used for a different purpose with a specific technique.

Learn more about lip filler products & techniques below in our featured youtube video with board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Davis.

[Transcript]

Hi everyone. With all the different things that we do here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, I sometimes forget to talk about some basic things that we do almost every single day. And one of those happens to be facial fillers and injectables. And in particular, lips. I’m sure most of you know, how popular of a procedure that is now to have your lips injected to make them look more youthful, to make them look fuller.

Well, let me just explain a couple of things too that I think is important. Part of the training, if you will, that I do across this area and before COVID-19, I used to go and travel around to train other physicians and nurses and physician assistants in how to do injectables.

And one of the things that became very, very obvious to me is that there are different techniques that people talk about all the time, and if you’re watching Instagrams and if you’re doing anything like that online, you’ll see that there’s a lot of different ways to have your lips injected.

But I wanna make sure that you understand two very important things about that. Number one, what’s the product that’s being placed in the lips? That’s a big question because there are a lot of different products that are on the market now that are all very good, but they all have a specific reason to be placed.

One could be, the patient just, which could be you, you just don’t like the vertical lip lines that are around your lips. And because of that, you may wanna use a special kind of a lip filler. Others of you may want to have your lips made bigger, bolder, more, you know, youthful overall, that may be another type of product. So that’s the first thing.

Make sure when you’re going to get your lips injected that you’re asking, what kind of product are you using and why are you choosing to use that. The second thing is the technique that’s being used to generate the look that you want is very important.

And when I’m still doing some of my trainings, either virtually or in-person, we definitely go through that all the time to make sure that we’re getting a very sharp border, so it’s almost like a lip liner for some patients. And in other patients, we’re using a technique that may actually roll out the top lip and roll down the bottom to get more of a pouting look.

So I think as you watch some of our Instagrams that are gonna be coming out and some of our videos, you’ll get a chance to see how I’m employing all those different techniques, based on what you, the patient wanna see. So stay tuned.
