When is Invasive Surgery the Best Option?

July 8, 2021 by Davis

It’s another surgery day, and it is really important when you’re having surgery that you’re doing it in a facility that not only is the physician and the surgeon comfortable with it, but the patients will be also. And I think one of the big things about having a surgical procedure is that it’s almost like it’s a way of understanding that there really aren’t gonna be a lot of other ways to make things better for what you’re looking to do.

Because in the office setting, we do so many things that are nonsurgical, and I think that makes patients very comfortable and it’s very exciting. But at some point, there’s going to be something that you come in for that really can’t be fixed properly without doing the surgery, and that’s one of the great things about being a plastic surgeon is that we have the ability to do something nonsurgical, as well as doing something surgical.

So for instance, today, one of the things that we’re gonna do is that we’re gonna go about doing a facelift and the facelift is on a patient that’s really had a good amount of facial fillers and other things done in the office setting. But at some point, when they start to realize that there are areas of their face that just aren’t getting corrected no matter what else happens, injectable wise, laser wise, then we have the option to really talk with them about going to the next step.

And in many times, it happens to be when you, as the patient, really start to look at your neck and your jowls, and you’re really thinking to yourself, no matter all the fillers and Botox and everything else that you may do to try to make that look better, at some point, the facelift is the answer for that problem that you may be looking at. So think about that as you’re moving forward in your plans for potentially doing a cosmetic procedure.

From Botox to Fillers, Trends in Men’s Health (FOX29)

July 1, 2021 by Davis

“Listen as Dr. Steven Davis (from Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery) discusses how more men are partaking in botox and fillers!”

Air Date: 6/19/21 Video Credit: FOX29

[Transcript]

  • So as you know, we’re taking the show on the road here at the African American Museum, recognizing Juneteenth, but it’s also Men’s Health Awareness Week. So, we wanna take a look at the trends that men are doing to look and feel better, especially as more of us ditch the mask and return to the office. So, I’m joined now by board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Davis. Dr. Davis, good morning. Thanks for spending some time with us.
  • Good morning. Good morning, how you doing?
  • Doing well, thank you. So, you say that you’re seeing lots of men kind of making a pit stop for a subtle touch-up. What kinda tweaks are men doing these days?
  • Well, I think, you know, kinda going back to seeing people, your clients, your coworkers, you may have to start ditching the scrubs or the sweatpants that you’re wearing at home and you’re gonna go see people. So, I think one of the first things I can tell you is that men have decided that Botox is definitely not just for women and they’re coming in and they’re getting stuff done and if it’s done properly, you can make a very subtle change and just make you look more refreshed. So, that’s one.
  • So, men are calling it Brotox now. It’s the male Botox.
  • That’s exactly right.
  • Just a little dose. What’s a hallow healer?
  • Yeah, well, here’s the thing. You know, so many of you and I see it myself, you start to see patients that are coming in that have a lot of deep hollows underneath their eyes and a lot of it stems from just having some fat pockets there, but facial fillers are like magic and literally, if it’s placed in the proper location, you can camouflage those deep hollows that are underneath the eyes. It’s pretty amazing how that looks and it just takes that tiredness away and since we’re talking about that tiredness, let me hit you with another thing. We’ve been doing a lot of these halo laser treatments, and it can be done in a very subtle fashion, but what we’re doing is that we’re getting the skin that looks dull, that looks aged, and we’re taking off that old dead dried skin cells and it just makes the skin look so much brighter and refreshed. That’s an easy fix and especially when you’re not able to put like your phone on a filter or your Zoom on some sort of a filter. Now you’re seeing people in real time and in person, just having a little bit more confidence in how you feel about yourself and how your skin looks. It can even go way after acne scars and things like that that a lot of guys come in to talk about and I’ll hit you with one more.
  • Finally, go ahead. We gotta do that one quickly.
  • The neck. Everybody’s coming in because they’re having to finally button the collar of their shirt and if over the course of time, you haven’t been eating so great, sometimes we can just liposuction that area and make the jawline and the neck very sharp and we do that in the office called flash liposuction. So, it allows me to take away that extra fat that may have accumulated there over these past few months.
  • I like it. We can refresh ourselves, as well. Doc, we appreciate you spending time with us. This is all I got, but maybe at some point, we’ll come and see you. You have a good one.
  • You’re looking very good. You’re looking good. Buh-bye.
  • I appreciate that.

The Power of Combination Therapies

June 18, 2021 by Davis

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest content from our podcast, The Plastic Surgery Revolution, you know how much promise our team sees behind combination therapies.

When combining two or more treatments, medical professionals across the plastic surgery world have noted incredible results. Not only will you be revitalizing two parts of your body, these combination therapies often go hand-in-hand for even more remarkable outcomes.

By increasing your body’s ability to grow collagen, a youthful appearance is achieved on different levels of the skin. Stacking procedures together can yield excellent results, and we can’t wait to continue exploring the power of combination therapies.

[Transcript]

Hi, everyone. I wanna make sure you know that one of the latest things that are really trending is the idea of combination therapies. And here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery along with our skincare department which we call the Skin Spa, we’re really teaming up very, very nicely to join forces if you will, to do as many things as we can in a non-surgical fashion. And sometimes, it may be a combination of surgery and non-surgery.

But the beauty of this is, we’re learning through the literature and through all my colleagues across the country that combining therapies almost makes like a one plus one equal like a three or a four. Because what’s happening is, we’re building on your ability to grow more and more collagen. We’re building on your ability to get more youthful in your appearance, by doing multiple different things at different levels of the skin. And it’s turning out to be a fantastic reward for you.

So, keep that in mind when you’re thinking of things like laser resurfacing, microneedling, fillers, Botox, all of those things now kind of dovetail together, and they can really make an unbelievable result when you kind of stack them on each other. It’s important though that you’re doing it in the right sequence. So check in with us if you have any questions about that.

June 11, 2021 by Davis

With all of the content we put out about cosmetic plastic surgery, it’s important we keep all the men out there included. Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery offers various procedures specialized for men, which you can view by clicking here.

One of the most popular procedures Dr. Davis has been performing in the past year centers around concerns of having a turkey neck. A direct platysmaplasty for men is the ideal procedure for those looking for ways to sculpt their face, providing a younger and more vibrant look.

[Transcript]

Hi, I wanna make sure that I’m not leaving out men when we’re talking about cosmetic plastic surgery. And one of the number one procedures that we’ve been doing here over the past year is what we’re calling a direct platysmaplasty.

It’s a lot of words there and a lot of syllables but what it actually means is guys that are coming in, that are really talking about a turkey neck, they’re talking about excess skin that’s starting to kind of pool in this lower portion of their neck, we have a really neat way of going about addressing that extra skin without having to do a formal facelift, neck lift. ‘Cause a lot of guys really don’t wanna have all those other things done to look any different, they just wanna get rid of that excess amount of skin that’s in that area.

Check my website, daviscps.com, because you’ll see some unbelievable before and afters. And if you have any questions about that, don’t hesitate to call us. But I think it’s a fantastic procedure and something that is an easy recovery. So check into that.

Combination Therapies with Microneedling

June 4, 2021 by Davis

Microneedling may seem to be a very trivial process, but there’s something we’d like to let you know about how we can expand upon this procedure. In specific locations on the body, we can use several different types of combination therapies to maximize results. By combining radio frequency with microneedling, we can target certain areas of the body that many of our patients have similar requests about.

Did you know that with the combination of radio frequency and microneedling, we can now target the knee as well as parts of the arm? With zero downtime, the combination of these two treatments is one that can’t be overlooked.

Contact Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery to learn more about the areas we can target with both microneedling and radio frequency. The results will blow you away!

[Transcript]

Microneedling, something that you think is just a very trivial type of a thing that you can almost get done anywhere. I want to make sure that I’m calling your attention to something.

More and more of the literature is supporting the fact that doing proper microneedling in certain locations of the face and the body can stimulate incredible results for you. And if it’s done in a really elegant fashion we can super impose upon that microneedling.

Radio frequency energy and certain types of combination therapies that really make that skin rebound and look very, very youthful. And it’s done without having to do lasers or anything that’s really going to give you a long amount of downtime.

So recently, here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery we’ve been doing areas that you may not have even realized can be done with microneedling. I want to give you an example of a few. Number one has been around the knee area. The skin around the knees and around the thigh area where you would normally not want to use a laser. The microneedling with some radio frequency works unbelievably well.

Another area is the arm area because we have a lot of patients that have, may have, you know started doing an exercise regimen or started losing weight but the skin in that area doesn’t look so tight any longer. It may even have that crepey appearance. Believe it or not microneedling with some radio frequency energy in that area, can cause that area to look so much better.

And the last area that I want to mention is the decollete or the chest and neck region, where we really can address it in such an elegant fashion that there’s zero downtime, and you can really see a difference in the overall appearance of the skin. So check into that at daviscps.com.

Have You Considered “FLASH” Liposuction?

May 14, 2021 by Davis

Have you ever considered the “FLASH” liposuction treatment invented by Dr. Davis? If you haven’t before, you definitely should. As seen on Doctors Radio and the Dr. Oz show, “FLASH” liposuction is an incredible technique unique to our plastic surgery practice in Cherry Hill, NJ.

By utilizing a syringe-type approach, Dr. Davis can remove stubborn pockets of fat that just won’t go away even with diet and exercise. One of the incredible aspects of “FLASH ” liposuction is the ability to see instant results. After the procedure is finished, Dr. Davis can show you exactly how much fat was extracted.

If you haven’t heard of “FLASH” liposuction, it’s time to get in tune. Watch below as Dr. Steven Davis breaks down the magic behind this innovative technique to removing pockets of fat.

[Transcript]

Many years ago, I came up with something called FLASH, and it’s a way of doing liposuctioning in the office setting under straight local anesthesia. And the concept of it was really born out of the fact that we all probably have pockets of fat distributed around our body that we would just love to get rid of, and diet and exercise isn’t really helping to get rid of that small pocket.

Under just straight local anesthesia, I can actually inject that area and then use very, very, very fine instruments to very elegantly liposuction or lipo sculpt away that extra fat. And the beauty of it is it’s gone instantly. I can actually show you after we do the liposuction what I just removed and it’s all done with a syringe type of a technique. The little kit that I’ve put together actually allows me to do it almost anywhere.

We’ve done it on Dr. Oz, we’ve done it on the Doctor’s Show live in a studio audience. So the reason why I think it’s really so apropos right now is because so many of you come in for consultations about small areas of fat that you’re really having a tough time getting rid of. And instead of waiting to, like, watch what would happen after doing some other kinds of procedures.
If you really can localize it to an area that you really, really are trying to get rid of. All the exercises that you’re doing just doesn’t really make it go away, come in and talk about this FLASH liposuctioning technique. And I think you’ll really be surprised because we’re doing it almost every week.

We have at least three or four patients that we’re either doing a bra line, we’re doing inner knees, we’re doing arms, we’re doing all different kinds of things. And the beauty of it is that it can be actually used in tandem with some radio-frequency type things to actually cause the skin to tighten at the same time.

Let’s Talk About the Facial Skeleton

April 30, 2021 by Davis

It’s important the understand the structure of the facial skeleton and how cosmetic surgery affects it. When people begin to show significant signs of aging, there are a few factors that we evaluate when it comes to treatment. Whether it’s a receding jaw line affecting the appearance of teeth and lips or something else along those lines, we have a few ideal solutions for you to consider.

Join us as Dr. Steven Davis breaks out our facial skeleton model to cover a few basics on three-dimension lifting for the face. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact us by clicking here.

[Transcript]

Hi everyone. No, I’m not gonna recite any soliloquies from Hamlet. I’m actually gonna talk to you a little bit about the facial skeleton. You know, as we get older, we not only start to lose some bony mass in our body when we talk about osteoporosis, but we also start to lose it in our facial skeleton.

And one of the reasons why I’ve gotten so excited about the High-tech Facelift is because we can actually start doing a three-dimensional type of a lifting of the face starting at the bony area and working outward. And that’s why something like this is really, really representative of what we’re talking about here.

As the jaw starts to recede, we start to notice that there’s some skin laxity around the jaw line and that’s when you start to lose some of that sharpness or that crispness that we see in the jaw line.

Also, don’t forget that a lot of times, as the maxilla starts to recede, people’s teeth start to look kind of odd and that makes the lips and everything else that you can imagine in that area start to look like it needs a little bit more support and that’s where we can start building from the facial cell skeleton outward.

So keep this in mind when you’re going next time for your facial injectables and instead of just concentrating, maybe, on the skin surface itself, start trying to think more in a three-dimensional fashion from the skeleton outward. And maybe next time I’ll do a little Hamlet for ya.

New Generation of Silicone Gel Breast Implants

April 23, 2021 by Davis

The new generation of silicone gel breast implants has arrived, and we couldn’t be more excited to share them with you. Like many other pieces of technology out there, breast implants have continued to grow and develop as time passes. Since we learn more each year about what our patients are looking for, breast implants continue to get better and better.

Our list of recent improvements to silicone gel breast implants goes on and on! With greater fill volume, these improved breast implants will stay exactly where we want them to, with the precise projection you’re all used to.

Join Dr. Davis as he covers the new generation of silicone breast implants and what this means for one of the most popular procedures in the cosmetic world. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact us by clicking here.

[Transcript]

Hi everyone. I wanted to talk to you about a new way that we’ve started to do some breast augmentations. Now you must already know that there’s a new generation of silicone gel implants and the new generation of the silicone gel implants as much like a new iPhone. Let’s say each generation has gotten better because we’ve kind of understood what patients really want.

And the new silicone gel implants that are really probably about two, three months old, just have more of a density to the gel and the fill volume is much more. And the beauty of this is that it’ll stay in its position where we want it to, and we’ll also get the projection exactly where we want it to be.

Now, let’s say that you also wanted to use some of your own body fat to give you a little bit more softness around the implant, because over the course of some time, we’ve seen some patients that really want a breast augmentation, but they may have lost so much of their own volume that they’re worried that the implant may stand out amongst all the other emptiness.

So we can actually transfer some of your own body fat into the surrounding area around the implant and make it almost like a hybrid type of a breast augmentation. If you’re interested in it, contact us at info@daviscps.com.
