Different Areas We Can Inject Facial Fillers

March 20, 2020 by Davis

Join Dr. Steven Davis as he discusses the different areas on the face that facial fillers can be injected. Typically, patients think that we can only place certain injectables in one designated area.

We’re here to tell you this is no longer the case. With the help of a board-certified plastic surgeon, you can get the results you are truly looking for.

The possibilities of facial fillers aren’t as limited as you may think! Give this week’s episode a listen to learn about all about the different areas facial fillers can be injected to achieve maximum results.

[Transcript]

Hi, Dr. Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. Fillers are really a wonderful thing that we use in the practice all the time. But something that’s really come up a lot recently, is that patients really have a very specific area that they think the filler can only be placed.

And I wanna make sure that we’re talking about this the way it really should be. And that is certain products, certain fillers, can be placed all over the face, and they can be placed in very specific strategic areas to give you the look that you’re looking for.

One example that I just finished doing on a patient, is explaining to them that we could take something called voluma, where most people think we’re only putting it in the cheek area, and I can actually take that voluma and that’s what we did on this patient, and we placed it right in this area, to give her jawline, a more sharp look, we can put it back in the angle of the mandible right here, so that what she was really noting that was bothering her, was that the jaw started to become more prominent than her actual jawline.

What we did very cleverly, is to take that voluma and actually use it in a way to camouflage the fact that that jaw is beginning to show.

So what we did was, we took some voluma, we put it right at this pre jaw hollow, we put a little bit of it right in the beginning of her chin and all the way back here where the mandible ends, which is the angle of the mandible and very, very cleverly, took that whole jawline and just made it look sharper, just like that and we did it on both sides.

So my point is when you’re going to see your plastic surgeon or if you’re coming here to talk about fillers, make sure that you’re really talking about what bothers you, not so much about the filler that you wanna have.

Talk about the area of your face that’s really concerning to you, because as a plastic surgeon, we can use other things to make that look that you’re going for be exactly what you want.

The New Normal Since COVID-19

March 19, 2020 by Davis

At our Cherry Hill, NJ plastic surgery practice, we are taking all of the proper precautions for COVID-19. As the world adjusts to this new way of life, we’re doing all we can to keep our patients happy and healthy.

Following the cancellations of all elective surgeries at the hospital, we have discovered a brand new way to handle office hours. We expect this new way of performing consultations to become the new normal for most other practices.

We have proudly reached out to all of our new patients to explain our latest policy. Tune in to find out what this new process entails or contact us directly.

[Transcript]

Hi, Dr. Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. With all the uncertainty that’s surrounding us now, with COVID-19, we wanted to come out and really talk with you about all the new things that we’re instituting here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.

We stopped doing all the elective surgeries at the hospitals, but what we noticed when we were calling our patients to have them rescheduled, that many of you were saying this happens to be the best time to get certain procedures done in our office. Injectables, or any in-office procedures that we do, so was there any way that we could try to do these things in the most safe manner possible?

And I have to tell you that me, along with the rest of my team, have really gotten together, and we have come up with a brand-new way of handling office hours.

And for as far as I can see, this may be the new norm for a lot of ways offices are going to handle patients. Here’s what we’ve done: We started last week, calling all our patients, and asking if they wanted to reschedule for the future.

If not, what we explain to them is our new policy, and this is what we’re doing, we’re having you drive up, in your car, and wait in our parking lot. At that time, you make a phone call to us, and let us know that you’re here.

We will have already had an exam room ready for you, and we will call you back and say ‘It’s ready to go.’ We’ll meet you at the door with hand sanitizer, a mask, and we’ll escort you personally into your room. Be advised that the safety of our personnel is also one of our priorities, so if you can supply yourself with hygiene products such as Hand Sanitizer before you come, it is advised that you sanitize yourself before you leave for your appointment.

There is no longer a waiting room, it is a personalized experience, just for you. In the room, we’ll be there, and we will actually being doing the procedures to you. Once it’s over, you’ll go right back, with an escort, to your car, and that’s gonna be your full jaunt, if you will, through the practice. And the most important thing, it’s really all about your personalized experience here.

So if you feel you need a video consultation, we can set that up for you as well, but if you like this whole idea, please call us or email, and we’ll be more than happy to go through the entire process again. Please stay healthy, stay safe, and I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.

Benefits of Continuing Your Weight Loss Journey after Liposuction

March 13, 2020 by Davis

Liposuction isn’t all just about the initial results. When you have this fat-removal procedure performed, there are even more benefits than one may think. Due to the process of removing fat in an expedited process, your body responds in intriguing ways.

Make sure you watch today’s brand new episode all about continuing your weight loss journey after liposuction. By making sure you exercise after having this treatment done, your body will actually lose weight much faster than before.

Tune in to find out why!

[Transcript]

Hi, Dr. Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. One of the things that we very very rarely get a chance to talk about is the benefits of doing liposuctioning on someone that’s really looking to continue to lose weight. And I wanted to take a few minutes just to talk about that.

You know, when we’re thinking about globally of how our body is kind of constructed, we have bones, we have muscle, and we have fat. And when you go on a diet a lot of times, people lose a little bit of muscle mass.

They lose a little bit of bony mass and they lose a bit of fat. But when you have liposuctioning, the only thing that we’re really doing is removing pure fat from your body, so your muscle mass stays the same; your bony mass stays the same.

And the beauty of that is that you still need the energy, the metabolism to move all of your muscle around, to move all your bones all around, and you’re doing that now with less body fat because I just finished liposucking you.

So where this comes into play is that your metabolism, for about a month to three to four months after the liposuctioning, your body doesn’t really know what happened.

All it knows is it’s still trying to move the same amount of muscle; it’s still trying to move the same amount of bones, but you don’t have the same amount of fatty stores that you were using in order to metabolize the energy to move yourself around.

So what all this actually means is that your metabolism will start to race quicker over the first month to three months after liposuctioning.

And the beauty of that is if you’re watching what you’re eating, and you’re exercising, you’re gonna be able to lose weight faster than you’ve ever been able to lose before for about three months. And then magically, your body kinda recalibrates and understands what you did to try to fool it.

So just remember, the benefits of liposuctioning aside from just getting your girth to come down and fitting into like smaller clothing and looking better is it’s actually gonna help your metabolism. And if you are looking to lose weight, that’s how you can go about doing it.

Dermaplaning at Davis CPS with Medical Esthetician Jaclyn

March 6, 2020 by Davis

On today’s special in-office episode, Davis CPS medical esthetician Jaclyn takes us behind the scenes. Dermaplaning is a fantastic skincare procedure that we proudly offer here in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

To give you a feel for what this treatment entails, tune in as Jaclyn describes everything you need to know about dermaplaning. Not only does this process remove dead skin, but it also helps keep your skin rejuvenated and glowing.

Jaclyn also mentions how dermaplaning can make makeup removal and application all the more convenient! Although this is not the ideal procedure for those with acne or active pimples, we have plenty of other procedural options here at our practice for you to explore.

Please feel free to contact us to learn more!

[Transcript]

[Interviewer] Okay, so we are here today with our medical esthetician Jaclyn. – Hello. – [Interviewer] She is doing some dermaplaning

Sure, so dermaplaning, the main benefit is to take off all the dead skin cells, your products will penetrate deeper, you’ll get maximum penetration out of the product, your skin will glow, your makeup will go on very smooth, and the bonus is it takes off all this dead skin.

My clients, usually they are the best candidates to get it are somebody that’s prior to a peel. Anybody that has active acne or breakouts, I wouldn’t suggest it and the reason being is it can cause a P. acne bacteria and your skin will break out a little bit more so, any active acne, pimples, you’re not a candidate to get this done. We can find a different option for you. –

Sure, so we over the entire face with the dermaplaning. So I’ll do each cheek and then we’ll do chin and forehead, then above the lip. So it’s nice, because a lot of people like waxing above their lip and waxing kinda pulls the skin. When you wax above the lip it pulls the skin and it can cause more fine lines and wrinkles.

Hence, we can dermaplane above the lip now. So, what else about dermaplaning? Afterwards we’ll put a nice brightening mask on. If you decide not to get a peel with this, we put a brightening mask on, but Angel is gonna glow.

And it’s a no down time treatment. So she can go to any event, wedding, or whatnot tonight and she’ll have her makeup will go on flawless. Go on and tuck your top lip.

Stopping Excess Sweating with Botox

February 28, 2020 by Davis

We’re sure you have heard of Botox being injected into the face, but what about other places of the body? Within our Cherry Hill, NJ plastic surgery practice, we proudly provide our patients with a variety of Botox options.

Are you sweating excessively under your arms? We have your solution! Tune in to learn about the process behind how we determine where to inject botox in order to make a difference that YOU will notice first.

Contact Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery to learn more about how botox can help eliminate excess sweating all over the body!

[Transcript]

Hi. Dr. Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. I’m sure a lot of you know all about Botox, but I bet there’s a couple locations that you’re unfamiliar that Botox can actually be placed, and one of the ones that I really wanted to talk about today is the idea of stopping excess sweating in certain parts of your body.

We’ve been doing this for a very long time and we know that Botox will stop muscles from actually activating things.

So it could be around your face, or if those muscles are actually around the sweat gland and we can stop that muscle from actually working as forcefully, we can prevent a lot of the sweating that a lot of people get.

The number one location obviously that most people talk about is underneath the arms and we can actually be very precise with where we want to put the Botox injection, because we can do a special little thing with combination of some baby powder and some Betadine to actually watch to see how the underarms stains from excessive sweating.

We can be very, very specific about where we are pacing the Botox. It’s going to last a good four to six months. And I can guarantee you, you will be the first one that notices the difference, because everybody that we’ve done this to is like phenomenally over the top joyful that they don’t sweat as much as they used to.

Other areas that we’ve done this on is the soles of the feet, and the hands, and a lot of guys that talk about sweating a lot on their scalp especially if they’re balding or have gone bald, they notice that their is a ring of some sweat that happens after either exercising a lot or just eating like hot foods, something that is very spicy.

So, these are all locations where Botox can be placed very elegantly and it work’s unbelievably well. So definitely keep that in mind if this happens to be something that you’re suffering from. We can definitely take care of that with a little bit of Botox. I’m Dr. Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.

How Do Breast Implants Change As You Get Older?

February 21, 2020 by Davis

Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, we love to share insight from experiences at our Cherry Hill, NJ office. Since one of the most common questions recently has been regarding breast implants, we thought this would be the perfect time to provide answers.

Time and time again, patients ask Dr. Steven Davis if breast implants change as you get older. More specifically, after menopause, we notice patients tend to go through a period of changes with the appearance of their breasts.

We’ve had patients come in that have lost an implant, but we have also seen the opposite. Some patients come in to discuss their breast size getting larger, which is something we are happy to address.

If you have similar questions regarding how breast implants begin to change as we age, please feel free to give us a call or contact us directly here.

[Transcript]

Hi, Doctor Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. You know I love to talk to all of you about things that I’m seeing coming in more and more during my office hours.

And one of the things that I’ve seen a lot of over the past month or two, are patients that have had breast augmentation, so they have implants in, and they may have had them in for over 10, 15 years, and they’re reaching a point, a lot of the women that are going through menopause, and one of the things that they’re really concerned about are two things.

The first is, are their implants still intact? And the second thing is, are those implants losing any kind of volume? So that as they get older and older, is it gonna become more of an issue to actually take these implants out, or to do something with their breasts?

So here are the things that I’ve been telling all the patients. The first is, if they’re saline implants, they will have a tendency to just continue to deflate. Many of the times it’ll just happen instantly, where you’ll wake up one morning and patients have told me they just, everything was fine when they went to sleep, when they woke up one was up and one was flat. And that definitely can happen with a saline implant.

They’re filled with saline, and if something happens to that implant, it’s just gonna leak out and that’s gonna be the end of it. Many of the patients that do have saline implants have noticed that the implants start to lose some volume and it may be asymmetrical, where one looks like it’s been a little bit more deflated than the other.

In any of those cases, we really want to talk about getting those out and either replacing them with new saline filled breast implants, or new silicone gel breast implants. But, as I was alluding to earlier, a lot of the women that are going through menopause have noticed that all of a sudden their breasts are actually getting fuller and they don’t even need the breast implants anymore.

In that case, what I’ve been recommending is, have the patients come in, we take the implants out, again, either saline or silicone gel, and then use their own breast tissue to actually stent up their breasts and make them look like they’re perkier and more lifted.

Now there are other things that we can do with the skin if necessary, but the majority of the time, if we can use the patient’s own tissue and some of the capsule that’s been developed over the course of all these 10, 15 years, we can actually make the breast have a framework on the inside that allows us to make them look more perky and lifted.

If you’re interested in talking about this, definitely schedule an appointment and we’ll go over everything when you come into the office. It’s nice talking to you again. I’m Doctor Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Steven Davis Explores the World of Plastic Surgery in Miami, Florida (Part 3)

February 14, 2020 by Davis

While down in Miami, Flordia, Dr. Steven Davis, has come across tons of exciting new information. Being such a different climate than our Cherry Hill, NJ office, you may expect plastic surgery trends to be somewhat different. What Dr. D has discovered is that things may not differ as much as you may think.

With the popularity of laser resurfacing rising, our practice has been mastering resurfacing techniques for quite some time. One of the most important aspects of laser resurfacing that many overlook is preparation.

Down in Miami, Flordia, preparation is valued for a variety of reasons. Watch this week’s video to find out why!

[Transcript]

Hi, I’m Dr. Steven Davis, I’m here in Miami. And let me tell you something. If you’ve ever thought that in Miami you wouldn’t see people getting laser resurfacing on their face, you’re wrong.

Because here in Miami that may be one of the most popular things that they do. And one of the interesting things about that, is that the patients down here have this beautiful weather all year round.

So there’s gotta be a message there about people only wanting to do laser resurfacing back home, back East, when it’s wintertime.

And the trick is preparation of the skin prior to that laser resurfacing. And that is something that I’m very proud to say that we’ve been doing at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery forever, is that we prep the skin in advance so that it’s ready to take that laser resurfacing type of a procedure.

So, I’ve picked up a couple little tricks here about some of the skincare products that everyone’s using down here, and I’m bringing them back to the North-East and the whole Greater Philadelphia Area. So stay tuned, got a lot of fun things to talk to you about.
