Radiofrequency Around the Eyes

October 8, 2021 by Davis

Are you looking for a non-invasive cosmetic option to tighten the skin around your eyes? Radiofrequency treatments are one of the best ways to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles to achieve a more youthful look.

Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic surgery, we’re proud to offer patients a variety of options when it comes to cosmetic treatments.

Our Skin Spa is one of the best places to go to bring your skin back to life. Get glowing with radiofrequency around the eyes! You won’t be disappointed.

[Transcript]

I’m really very proud of all the work that we do here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery and at our Skin Spa. And one of the things that’s the most popular here is doing radio frequency treatments around the face and eyes and I can tell you that we can use radio frequency devices all over the body.

But one of the areas that you could really see results pretty quickly is when we start doing things that are around the eyes and I know we just had a couple of patients that came through here that were interested in doing a blepharoplasty or what we call an eyelid lift and instead of going in that direction, what they decided to do is to try some of the radio frequency energy and see if that got them the same kind of a look that they were going for without having to have surgery.

Now, it’s true, at some point, the surgery’s probably what’s gonna be necessary but for you that are really thinking about trying to get some of the fine lines and wrinkles, trying to get some of the tightening of the skin to happen, if the radio frequency device is a good one and it’s being applied in the proper way, we’re really starting to change the architecture of not only the skin but the subcutaneous area, the skin underneath what you see and that’s what gets everything to really get tighter and make everything look more youthful.

What Should You Do with Old Breast Implants?

October 1, 2021 by Davis

Have you had breast augmentation surgery in the past, and now you’re looking to move on? Especially with news concerning breast implants, there has been a lot of talk around the removal process. Well, if you are looking to change your breast implants, we have a few options for you to look into.

If you simply no longer want breast implants due to size, we can happily remove them for you. The process is simple and requires little downtime. Another option we offer is to modify your current breast implants as is. We are proud to provide a number of cosmetic options for those looking into a youthful and perky look.

The possibilities for old breast implants have continued to evolve like never before. Give us a call to learn about what we can do to either modify or remove your breast implants altogether.

[Transcript]

A lot of you may have breast implants that you may have had placed years ago and you’re trying to decide what to do. Should you keep them in? Should you take them out? Should you do a lift? All those different things. And we see a lot of patients that come in all the time about that.

It may be you that I’m speaking to so I want to make sure you understand that just because you had breast implants a long time ago number 1, they don’t necessarily have to come out number 2, if you really don’t need them anymore because you don’t really need that size or you really don’t even want to have implants in anymore there are so many things that we can do now to modify the way your breasts look and make them look perkier, more youthful so that’s another thing to consider.

And the last thing is, many times we can do a very, very fine breast lift in conjunction with having implants in for a period of time. But you may have gotten pregnant, weight gain, weight loss All of those things may have happened and we really don’t have to do anything to alter the implant itself but what we may want to do is take away some of the extra skin to make the breast just look more perky.

Think about that.

Get Your Lips Looking Exactly How You Want Them

September 24, 2021 by Davis

When it comes to getting your lips done, there are a variety of things to account for before heading into your plastic surgeon’s office. Are you expecting your lips to look plumper or maybe more narrow? Whatever the case may be, the most important thing is to prioritize how YOU want them.

Always speak with your plastic surgeon about the specific reasons how and why your want your lips done. Everyone approaches procedures differently, so make sure you communicate exactly how you expect your lip augmentation results to look.

Being transparent and upfront with your surgeon is crucial to a successful operation!

[Transcript]

Hi. I know how exciting getting your lips done really is. And I know it’s so popular right now, but here’s the thing I wanted to make sure that you know.

There’s so many different ways of injecting someone’s lips. Most of it has to do with what you want your lips to look like. So when you’re going to get your lips injected, either here or wherever you’re going, make sure that you have some input as to what you want your lips to ultimately come out looking like.

There are so many different techniques and there’s so many cool things that you could do to make your lips look maybe a little bit fuller, or just a totally different approach to making your lips look narrower, wider, a whole bunch of things.

So just remember it’s not just the product, it’s not just how it’s being injected, it’s also having your input to make sure it comes out looking exactly like you want.

Let’s Discuss Medical Tourism

September 17, 2021 by Davis

As things open back up due to coronavirus restrictions being lifted, we’ve noticed an unfortunate trend is coming back to life. The concept of medical tourism is one Dr. Davis has covered in the past, and it is a critical topic to discuss. Medical tourism is essentially traveling outside of the country to have a cosmetic procedure performed.

Whether the reason is that it would be cheaper, or a patient didn’t believe it could be done here in the states, this trend is very concerning for medical professionals. Often after people have procedures performed overseas, they come back home and need corrections done. Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, we’ve already been helping out a few patients who have unfortunately learned the downsides of medical tourism firsthand.

Let’s continue discussing medical tourism and why you should always do your research before committing to a specific procedure.

[Transcript]

Hi everyone. Now that all of us are starting to get more involved in doing things because we feel that we’ve been vaccinated, or that the coronavirus is something that we know how to kind of navigate, one of the things that has unfortunately re-emerged is this whole idea of medical tourism.

And for you out there that really don’t know what that means, it’s going out of the country, and going other places to have cosmetic surgery procedures done, and then coming back home, and unfortunately, having some complications due to that.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve already seen two patients that have had this happen. And I just want to make sure that you know that before you really decide to do that because of cost, or other things that you think can’t be handled in your normal locale, just investigate it a little further because the two patients that I’m talking to you about both went out of the country because they really thought it was gonna be number one cheaper, and because they thought that that procedure is something that’s really only done there, which is really not something that at least I could tell you.

I’ve not had anybody before ask me for a procedure. And if I didn’t do it, I definitely know someone in the tri-state area that will do it. So again, just investigate it a little further because we want to make sure that everyone that goes to get cosmetic plastic surgery is having it done safely.

What Goes into the ‘Fire and Ice’ Procedure?

September 10, 2021 by Davis

Have you heard of the magic behind our ‘Fire and Ice‘ procedure? With liposuction being one of the most sought-after procedures across the nation, we are proud to present our non-invasive version. By combining both CoolSculpting treatments and heated radio frequency, our ‘Fire and Ice’ concept has shown incredible results.

Tune in with the staff here at Davis CPS as we cover step-by-step what goes into the ‘Fire and Ice’ technique and everything else you need to know. Question or comments? Feel feel to reach out to our practice directly by clicking here!

[Transcript]

Hi, everyone. I wanted to talk a little bit about the most popular plastic surgery procedure in the country, and that’s liposuction. But for some of you, you may not wanna do it surgically. So what we’ve invented here is something that we call Fire & Ice, and it’s a way of freezing the fat cells and at the same time, going after some of that skin laxity. Jacqueline, how do we go about doing that?

So first, we’re gonna freeze those fat cells with the CoolSculpting, and then afterwards, we’re gonna go in with the heated energy, which is gonna to melt the fat, and it’s gonna tighten that skin. And how else do we tighten that skin?

With a thermal microneedling. So it’s not your traditional microneedle. It allows me to re-texturize the skin, that if someone has compromised texture, like from stretch marks, we can help that client re-texturize and smooth the skin away. And from there, I’m going to pass it on to Sarah, who may have some added boosters she wants to add to that client and patient.

Well, I mean, if there is some additional crepey skin or a little bit of laxity, I can always do MicroTox, which are tiny blebs of a toxin, such as Botox, Jeuveau, Xeomin, or Dysport. And that just adds some extra tightening action to the skin and also gives it a little bit more of a nice quality to it. The other thing we can do is put some PRP in that area of some crepeiness, and we can just kind of punch that in with a little vial that has tiny, little hollow needles in the top, and we can just sort of put it in that little location and give it sort of extra tightening.

What we’re trying to say is we have a lotta different ways of going about getting that skin and the areas of fat to go away without any surgery at all. Check us out. See you later.

Preparing the Skin for Laser Treatments

August 20, 2021 by Davis

One of the most important things to do after scheduling a laser treatment or chemical peels is to begin preparing the skin. When the skin gets injured, pigment cells come to rescue the area, resulting in an elongated healing process. By applying Retin-A, you can prepare your skin for treatment which will make all the difference.

As quoted from Dr. Steven Davis, “If we were going to wax the floor, we would first wanna strip off the old wax so that the new wax is actually going to be applied to the surface we wanted. Very similarly, when we use this special compounding cream, it’s going to have a combination of some of this bleaching effect and also some of this Retin-A purposefully so that we’re actually peeling off or flaking off that old, dead, dried skin surface so that when we finally do the laser, it’s going after the proper surface.”

The next time you find yourself heading into the office for laser treatments, make sure you prepare your skin as much as you can. After seeing your results, you’ll understand why!

[Transcript]

Hi, everyone, I wanted to talk to you about something I actually say at least four or five times every single office hours session, and that’s about preparing the skin before any kind of a laser procedure that I do. And this is really the concept behind it.

Whenever your skin gets injured, and it could be purposeful with a laser or a chemical peel or anything like that, there are certain cells in our body that come to the rescue of that burn or that injury, and those cells are pigment cells.

We call those melanocytes, and what’s very, very important is, prior to having any type of laser procedure, a deep chemical peel, or almost anything that’s really gonna purposefully try to restructure the skin by burning it or injuring it, we wanna make sure that those melanocytes are pushed down deep in the basement of the dermis, or the basement of the skin, so that they can’t jump to the surface to try to help from having a burn, and you know this happens all the time when you get a sunburn.

You’re gonna get this tanning that happens, but it can become a spotted type of thing, or a hyperpigmentation. So the first reason why we usually start everyone on a special cream is to push those melanocytes away from the surface of the skin. The second reason is we mix some of this cream with a Retin-A product, and the reason why we love using Retin-A is because it helps exfoliate or get the top layer of skin to actually peel off or flake off so that when we actually are hitting that skin with the laser or the chemical peel, we’re actually going after the proper surface.

So think of it this way. If we were gonna wax the floor, we would first wanna strip off the old wax so that the new wax is actually gonna be applied to the surface we wanted. Very similarly, when we use this special compounding cream, it’s gonna have a combination of some of this bleaching effect and also some of this Retin-A purposefully so that we’re actually peeling off or flaking off that old, dead, dried skin surface so that when we finally do the laser, it’s going after the proper surface. Nice talking to you, I hope you enjoyed that.

Dr. Steven Davis on the Clear-Skin Diet – FOX29 Good Day Philadelphia (2019)

August 6, 2021 by Davis

We all know the importance of wearing sunscreen every day to avoid wrinkles, but did you know it’s not always about what goes on top of your skin? Dr. Steven Davis explains the clear-skin diet with FOX29, which avoids heavy sugars and buttery products. By monitoring what you are putting into your body, both your body and appearance will thank you.

Particularly for those who have an interest in PRP treatments, ensuring the health of your blood is critical. With a heavy sugar diet, your blood isn’t effective when injected into different areas of that body. All the more reasons to maintain a clear-skin diet!

Watch Dr. Steven Davis below to learn more about adjusting your diet to maintain healthy, clear, and youthful skin.

[Transcript]

  • Folks tend to change what they eat for different reasons but have you ever heard of a good skin diet? Researchers have found fitting certain foods into your daily routine can help fix your face, especially when it comes to wrinkles. Plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Davis agrees and also adds it’s not just what you eat but also what you should avoid. Good morning. Thanks so much.
  • Good morning. Hi, how are you doing?
  • I’m good. You’re gonna start with the age advancers, the things that you think sometimes add a little age to our skin.
  • Absolutely ’cause, you know, we’re putting stuff on our skin every single day to make us look younger and look better. And if you’re doing things internally by eating certain foods that are kind of going against that, it’s a bad idea.
  • [Host] Right?
  • So some of the things that we know right off the bat, processed meats has things in it like sulphites that are actually breaking down our own collagen. Fatty kinds of foods, like heavy starches, do the same thing. But one of the other things that most people really don’t think about when they’re thinking about sodas, and if you’re drinking real sugary sodas you know that can’t be good, right?
  • [Host] Yeah.
  • But if you’re even drinking diet type Coke and sodas and things like that, that’s also bad for you because it’s destroying a lot of the things that we’re doing inside. One of the big things that we’re doing as plastic surgeons is we’re using our own body and your own body’s materials. So we can take your blood, spin it down and re-inject it into your face, put it into your hair so that your hair starts growing.
  • Oh, so if your blood’s full of sugar and bad things.
  • It’s not gonna work as well.
  • It doesn’t work.
  • We can take our own body fat and transfer it from places where you don’t want it to be and put it in places like your butt.
  • Where you do want it, yeah.
  • Exactly. But if that fat isn’t healthy, it’s not gonna work as well either. So that’s when we start thinking about what kinds of foods can we actually do and put almost like an internal protection against things like sun damage and pollution.
  • [Host] And we’re talking men and women, right?
  • [Dr. Steven Davis] Absolutely.
  • Right, I know a lot of times people think skin, we just think women, but it’s men and women. We all have skin.
  • And again, when we’re thinking about skin I think, as a plastic surgeon we think about skin all the time, about wrinkles and things. But it also is like a little window to what you’re doing to your organs inside because things that actually make your collagen and your cells stronger are actually working to make your liver and your heart and other things inside better.
  • Function properly. I like that.
  • So, one of the things that we love are good fats. Things like avocados are wonderful fats, they have great sources of vitamin A and people that have problems with their skin, if you have a lot of acne problems, or prone to being acne prone, you can use this and it actually regulates your sebum production, your oil production.
  • Oh, that’s good to know.
  • Things like tomatoes, another wonderful source of almost like an internal way of wearing sunscreen. You know how every plastic surgeon, dermatologist, will tell you got to put a lot of sunscreen on because of the UVA, UVB rays.
  • Right.
  • Well just think if you could actually eat something that was almost like a scavenger inside your body.
  • That’s working from the inside out.
  • Exactly.
  • Okay.
  • That’s the idea behind these.
  • [Host] Good to know.
  • Same thing with carrots and things like a beta carotenes, those things also are absorbing all those bad UVA and UVB rays that are coming into your body. They’re working in your body to kind of like scavenge hunt.
  • [Host] And we also know protein’s always good.
  • Proteins are probably the building blocks of our skin. Two big things in our skin are collagen and elastin. Both of those things are proteins, so the more protein that you can actually furnish to your body, you’re actually building better structure so that you look younger.
  • And Dr. Davis, let me make sure I understand this. The more we age, the collagen starts to break down, right? So you need more protein to help build that back up.
  • Exactly, and the reason why it’s breaking down is because our cells are being attacked all the time by things like bad foods, sun damage and things like that. So if we can actually protect ourselves and make the cells turnover quicker into a healthier thing, we’re doing a great idea.
  • I love this. Dr. Steven Davis over in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, thanks for joining us.
  • Thank you very much.
  • I love this, eat your way to good skin guys. Quick break, we’ll be right back.

Popular Post-Quarantine Cosmetic Procedures

July 15, 2021 by Davis

Now that most of us are back in the office or face-to-face meeting clients, demand for cosmetic plastic surgery remains at an all-time high. As much as we all love making calls over Zoom, returning to work is an exciting time for us all.

So why not look and feel your best before adjusting to the world outside of quarantine? Two of the most popular procedures we’re doing here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery are breast augmentations and breast lifts. It could be you gained or lost weight over the past year, or you’re just looking to finally make that change.

Regardless of the reasoning, our team is happy to help you achieve the post-quarantine cosmetic look you’ve always wanted.

[Transcript]

Hey, how are you doing, we’re back again for another day of surgery. And it’s getting really, really busy with surgical procedures that are more body and face oriented to get back to seeing your clients, to see your co-workers, because you’ve been out for so long, doing things at home or via zoom that now that you’re heading back to the office or back to work, you’re really gonna want to like, make sure that you look as great as you can.

So the two big procedures that are going on right now, we’re doing a lot of breast augmentations and breast lift, because that’s one of the things that as you start to get older, you may not be able to make look as great as they once did. And especially over this past 18 months with this pandemic, if you’ve also put on a little bit of weight or even if you’ve lost weight and now your breasts don’t look as full as they did, we can restore that by doing a little bit of a lift and a little bit of a breast implant.

In addition to that, one of those topics that we always talk about is something called, the mommy makeover. And the mommy makeover, or if you’re a guy it’s the daddy do-over that also incorporates a bunch of different things that you could put into that category.

One of the things that we’ve been doing a lot of is some liposuctioning and trying to just get that area, that’s just bothersome to you to just look better and you’ll look better on your clothing, when you’re getting back to work, not just going to the beach, not just going to sit outside by a pool, but actually if there are problem areas that you really just couldn’t get rid of. And even if you would do doing all your diligence at home during the pandemic and working out and doing things like that, you just may have had a difficult time trying to get rid of some of that extra fat.

So the liposuctioning is a big component, but today we’re actually doing a combination for a mommy makeover of doing some liposuctioning, mini tummy tuck, and then putting a breast implant in, to just give a little bit more volume to the superior pole of the breast that may have gone away with pregnancies and just getting older.

Stay tuned because I actually wanna take you into the operating room so you could see a little bit more about what we’re doing. Talk to you soon.
