BOTOX® is by far the most popular of all cosmetic procedures. These days, millions of Botox injections are done each year, and the numbers are climbing. But what is Botox, how does it work, and what does it mean for you?
Answering those questions is why Dr. Davis and his staff are here.
What Is Botox?
Botox is an injection used to temporarily delay, and even reverse, signs of aging and facial lines such as crow’s feet and frown lines. It is most commonly used around the eyes and forehead. And yes, it can help prevent wrinkles!
How Does It Work?
When targeted in key areas – usually the forehead, the brow between your eyes, and at the outer corner of your eyes – Botox blocks nerve impulses that causes muscles there to contract. Over time, those contractions are the cause of the aging lines we seek to eliminate.
Botox is not permanent. The injection dissipates slowly over time until it is gone. Therefore, to retain the effect treatments should be repeated every 3-6 months.
What Does Botox Mean For Me?
If you are showing early signs of aging, or your frown lines give you an aged or tired appearance, Botox treatment could mean giving your face a more relaxed, youthful look.
The treatment is done by a near painless injection. Cost can vary, but be sure to speak to a reputable surgeon like Dr. Davis. Though this is a non-surgical procedure, it is a medical procedure that should only be done by an expert.
