Essential Summer Skin Care Tips

June 20, 2013 by Davis

Summer is here, and while it means fun in the sun, it also means paying special attention to your skin – not just because you’ll be showing more of it, but because summer can be especially harsh on your skin. If you want to look your best for years to come, keep these tips in mind.

1) Be sure to exfoliate and moisturize with skin care products in Cherry Hill. This will help your skin stand up to the summer.

2) Many people don’t realize this, but you can “pre-load” sunscreen prior to a beach vacation. For two weeks prior to your vacation, each night apply sunscreen. The sunscreen will actually build up in your skin, making you less likely to burn.

3) When going to the beach, be sure to use sunscreen with a high SPF of 30 or more, and make sure you use water resistant sunscreen. You’ll be able to stay longer while minimizing burn risk.

4) Indulge in great skin care products, such as those sold at in the Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery E-Store. Take care of your skin and it will take care of you.

5) Whenever possible, find oil-free sunscreen to maintain healthy pores and to prevent breakouts.

6) Be sure to exfoliate more often during the warmer months. During hot, humid weather your pores are larger, more open, and more noticeable. An extra exfoliation session each week will help counteract this.

With these simple tips, you’ll be looking great this summer! And if you’d like a little extra help, just visit our Skin Spa in Cherry Hill for an array of treatments that will nourish and revitalize your skin. Finally, be sure to find Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery on Facebook!

The Ins and Outs of BOTOX

May 16, 2013 by Davis

BOTOX® is by far the most popular of all cosmetic procedures. These days, millions of Botox injections are done each year, and the numbers are climbing. But what is Botox, how does it work, and what does it mean for you?

Answering those questions is why Dr. Davis and his staff are here.

What Is Botox?

Botox is an injection used to temporarily delay, and even reverse, signs of aging and facial lines such as crow’s feet and frown lines. It is most commonly used around the eyes and forehead. And yes, it can help prevent wrinkles!

How Does It Work?

When targeted in key areas – usually the forehead, the brow between your eyes, and at the outer corner of your eyes – Botox blocks nerve impulses that causes muscles there to contract. Over time, those contractions are the cause of the aging lines we seek to eliminate.

Botox is not permanent. The injection dissipates slowly over time until it is gone. Therefore, to retain the effect treatments should be repeated every 3-6 months.

What Does Botox Mean For Me?

If you are showing early signs of aging, or your frown lines give you an aged or tired appearance, Botox treatment could mean giving your face a more relaxed, youthful look.

The treatment is done by a near painless injection. Cost can vary, but be sure to speak to a reputable surgeon like Dr. Davis. Though this is a non-surgical procedure, it is a medical procedure that should only be done by an expert.

Women Seek The Perfect Thigh Gap

April 15, 2013 by Davis

Model Cara Delevingne has been taking the beauty world by storm over the last year. Women want her lips. They want her eyes. They want her eyebrows. And right now, they want her thighs – or more specifically, the space between them.
aboelata_manal_edit21

Delevingne is just one of many examples of women who display “thigh gap.” Thigh gap is when there is a space between your thighs even while standing straight with your legs together. The look is all the rage right now, with Delevingne’s lanky frame leading the way, but in many cases it’s just not possible to achieve without help.

That help can come through cosmetic surgery, specifically a form of liposuction unofficially referred to as “thigh gap surgery” which can help ensure a woman’s thighs do not touch. Keep in mind that not everyone is a candidate. A physical examination is necessary to assess the amount of tissue present and the quality of the overlying skin, which can often be thinner at the inner thighs than in other areas. But women who are a candidate for thigh gap surgery have enjoyed success in achieving the elusive look they seek.

As for Delevingne, she is influencing more than just the way women see their thighs. As Dr. Steven Davis recently told the Philadelphia Enquirer, “Delevingne is more than the thigh gap … We are tattooing in eyebrows to get that bushy eyebrow appearance. We are also doing cheekbone resculpting because women want to appear more angular, feminine, furry, frilly, and futuristic.”

Needless to say, this 20-year-old model is making an impact much bigger than her tiny frame!

If you are looking for cosmetic surgery in New Jersey or Pennsylvania and want to achieve the perfect thigh gap, contact Dr. Steven Davis for a consultation, or find us on Facebook.

Liposuction

December 19, 2012 by Davis

For many years Plastic Surgeons have been able to safely remove unwanted fat by liposuction. The sequence of events generally remain the same…infusing numbing solution-the tumescent fluid provides anesthesia/ baths the fat cells and distends the tissues to make moving of this cannulas less traumatic.

Sometimes additional energy is needed to assist in removing the fat or to help tighten loose skin. Examples of these are:
a) UAL –Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction
An example of this is the Vaser, it helps break through the scarred tissue from previous surgery or other reasons.
b) LAL – Laser Assisted Liposuction
Examples are Smart lipo and Cool lipo. A small laser probe is used to melt fat close to the skin surface in small delicate areas such as the face, arms and neck.
c) RFAL-RadioFrequency Assisted Liposuction- BodyTite, Neck Tite – Radiofrequency energy is implemented internally as well as externally – working as a bipolar devise. The internal liposuction cannula melts the fat while simultaneously sucking out the liquefied fat. The external probe heats the skin to cause skin shrinkage and tightening for patients with loose skin and fat around the abdomen from multiple pregnancies – this technique may be an alternative for the “mommy tummy tuck”. It also works well to tighten arms and legs as well as the new Neck Tite to sculpt and tighten the neck and jowls.

A little nonsurgical tune-up and toning

December 19, 2012 by Davis

Grace Robinson was pleased with the size of her breasts, but the 43-year-old wanted to smooth out the fine lines and wrinkles around her decolletage.

“I just wanted it to look a little perkier, around the breast area,” said the Cherry Hill mother.

So, after a quick chat with her plastic surgeon, Steven Davis, Robinson found herself scheduled for a Pellevé Perk-up.

On a recent Wednesday afternoon, Davis spent 15 minutes gliding a wand that emitted radio frequencies over Robinson’s chest. Afterward, her cleavage was noticeably smoother and tighter. She’s definitely ready to rock a strapless dress.
