Did You Know Not All Cannulas Are Created Equal?

November 6, 2020 by Davis

One of the hottest trends in plastic surgery at the moment is the use of cannulas. Cannulas provide plastic surgeons with the ability to target specific areas of the body without the need for invasive surgery. But, did you know that not all cannulas are created equal?

A brand new cannula that has been FDA approved gives our practice the ability to target areas like never before! Both minimally-invasive and maximally effective, these new cannulas are ideal for those looking to improve a specific aspect of the body.

Check out Dr. Steven Davis on YouTube as he dives into a few more reasons why cannulas are not all created equal. There are tons of different options for you to choose from! Contact us today to learn more about the possibility of each one.

Hi everyone, Dr. Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. One of the hottest things that I’m sure you probably already have heard about is this thing called a cannula. And in plastic surgery, we’ve been using cannulas for years and years and years.

But the latest thing that you may be hearing about is that there’s a new cannula that’s been FDA approved to be used in facial injections of all different types.

So that if we’re going into the lips, if we’re going into the cheeks, anywhere, we can now use this cannula. But did you know that not all cannulas are created equal? Let me show you what I mean. This is a liposuction cannula. And the liposuction cannulas have all different heads to them, depending on what you’re trying to do with them.

There are different sizes, different shapes, different openings. And in general, it’s like a metal straw that has different kinds of holes at the end of it. So this is one kind.

This one has another kind of head to it, but we also call cannulas something that we use to actually inject local anesthetic. So this cannula looks much more like a sprinkler head. Where you’re gonna be able to inject local into an area.

Another kind of cannula is the kind that we’re talking about now in facial injectables, where we can actually use the cannula to inject either product like Juvederm and Restylane and things like that, or we can actually take the fat that we used from using this to do actual liposuctioning and then reinject your fat by using these special kinds of cannulas like this.

But the latest and greatest are these disposable ones. And this is from one company where you actually have a very flexible plastic, kind of a cannula that we can inject anything into the skin or the neck or any areas like that. And this is the brand new one that’s been FDA approved by Allergan.

So just for your information, when you hear the word cannula just know that it could mean a lot of different things. Talk to you soon.

November 2, 2020 by Davis

When it comes to in-office visits and virtual consultations, body contouring is at the top of the list at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. While this may be a term you have heard previously, we want to take the time and explain what body contouring is and what procedures are available.

Body Contouring is a procedure or group of procedures that safely and effectively help patients improve their overall appearance.

Dr. Steven Davis, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Cherry Hill, NJ, specialized in body contouring procedures to make you look great and feel better. Your initial consultation with Dr. Davis will cover your goals or any specific areas you wish to address. Typically, your consultation points DCPS in the right treatment direction — which ensures us collectively hitting your goals.

One thing we see quite often at DCPS is that a patient comes to us for one particular treatment in mind, only to find out there is a better body contouring option for them.

In the next few weeks, we will discuss body contouring in detail. Some of the finer points we plan on discussing are Liposuction, FLASH, Radio Frequency Treatments, CoolSculpting, Renuvion Cosmetic Technology, and what it all means for you — our patient.

If you have specific questions about Body Contouring procedures and if they are right for you — please reach out to the Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery staff. We can schedule your consultation.

Did You Know How Cannulas Can Eliminate Facial Bruising?

October 30, 2020 by Davis

In a recent “did you know?” episode, Dr. Davis covered cannulas and the magic they present to the plastic surgery community. By making small slits in the skin, we can now use cannulas to target particular areas of the face. If you find yourself easily bruising from procedures, whether due to taking blood thinners or something along those lines, utilizing cannulas is your best option.

Cannulas aren’t just for giving plastic surgeons the ability to target particular areas of the face. They are fantastic ways to eliminate facial bruising that would otherwise be present after injections.

Do cannulas sound like the optimal way to eliminate burning for you and your body? Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office and schedule a virtual consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Davis.

Hi, Dr. Steven Davis, at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. In one of our previous, did you know, episodes I talked a lot about cannulas. But what I wanted to make sure you understand is, the cannulas that we’re now using around the face are really being utilized for one really, really important purpose. And that is we’re able to literally get all around an area by just using one little opening in the skin.

And that’s what this kind of a cannula allows us to do. We’re able to actually take a little small needle. That’s slightly larger than the size of the cannula. And once we make that little opening we can use a cannula that has various lengths to them. And actually for one little opening, we can get all around the face. This is going to limit any bruising potential.

It’s going to limit any painful type things that you may experience from actually a needle stick. And it also allows a more safely applied use of whatever we’re injecting, be it fat or even things like Juvederm and Restylane and those kinds, types of products.

So when you’re going to the plastic surgeon’s office and they’re going to be using a cannula, or if you wanted to try that out, make sure you bring that up to them because especially if you’re someone that you know you bleed a lot or you bruise a lot because you may be on any kind of blood thinners or other types of medications.

This may be the way to get away without having any bruising at all. Talk to you again soon.

Are There Alternatives to Plastic Surgery?

October 27, 2020 by Davis

When a patient comes to Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery for a consult, one of the topics we explore before deciding on a course of treatment is are there alternatives to plastic surgery that is right for you.

Dr. Davis takes time to discuss and understand your goals and what you want to achieve with your procedure. Sometimes, plastic surgery is the best way, but other times alternative methods may be suggested.

Alternatives to Plastic Surgery

For example, when it comes to body contouring instead of liposuction or a tummy tuck, a less-invasive procedure such as CoolSculpting may be a better treatment plan.

A board-certified plastic surgeon must provide you with all your available options. When you and your provider are on the same page, you begin working together to get your desired look.

If you are wondering whether or not there any alternative procedures other than plastic surgery that are right for you — contact the team at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery to schedule a virtual consultation.

Halo Laser Treatments for Freckles from Sun-Exposed Skin

October 23, 2020 by Davis

As the seasons change, so do our most popular procedures. The fall weather is setting in; it’s the perfect time to assess any sun damage you may have received over the hot summer. Long days in the sun often result in skin issues to highly exposed areas, such as your neck, arms, and décolletéte.

With the appearance of freckles becoming very prominent after summer, take the time to talk with a plastic surgeon about the possible procedures out there to help. Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, we stand by Halo laser treatments for freckles from sun-exposed skin. The Halo laser has produced significant results in alleviating the appearance of freckles all over the body.

Why wait? Give our practice a call today, and take care of those freckles from sun exposure. The Halo laser is calling your name!

[Transcript]

– Hi, everyone. Dr. Steven Davis at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. One of the most popular procedures every year right after the summer, once we get into the fall, is something to do with sun exposed skin that have may have gotten very, very freckled.

Mostly, we see it in the decolletage area, the chest, the neck, and the face as well as the hands. And nowadays I’m even having patients coming and talk to me about their knees or their elbows that just may have gotten freckled, and a lot of discolored type of skin in comparison to the rest of their skin.

So that’s when we always bring in the great laser that we call the halo laser. And the halo laser is really stand alone type of laser as opposed to any other type of laser that you or your girlfriends or anybody else may have talked about, this halo laser really does a tremendous job in trying to do two very important things.

One thing is it try to stabilize and equal out the pigment that may be in your skin. So some people have this dyschromia, melasma, anything that has to do with like a tone difference in their skin. Sometimes it’s just in a small area like underneath the eyes, sometimes it’s on the cheek, or sometimes it can just include like a whole decolletage or neck area.

That laser called the halo laser does the best job in being able to go way after any skin type: African American, Asian, it doesn’t matter because this laser can treat all different skin types, that’s number one. Number two, simultaneously it goes after fine lines and wrinkles.

So it’s literally a home run when you’re talking about doing anything around the face, neck, or areas where you may have some crow’s feet, some very creepy type of skin underneath the eyes that’s also hyperpigmented.

If this sounds like something that you’re interested in, definitely make sure that you’re talking to your plastic surgeon, or you can call us at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery and talk to us about the halo laser. Talk to you soon.
