Various Lip Filler Products & Techniques

February 19, 2021 by Davis

With so many different topics in the world of plastic surgery, sometimes we forget to cover some of the most basic treatments we offer. Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in Cherry Hill, NJ, lip fillers remain one of the most popular procedures in past years. Whether it’s making lips look more plump or youthful, there are a few basic concepts you should understand about fillers.

Have you been confused seeing tons of different lip filler products and techniques on social media? Dr. Davis is here to break down exactly what’s going on.

Before you go into your local plastic surgery office, always ask your surgeon which products they are using and why. We’re here to let you know each product is used for a different purpose with a specific technique.

Learn more about lip filler products & techniques below in our featured youtube video with board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Davis.

Hi everyone. With all the different things that we do here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, I sometimes forget to talk about some basic things that we do almost every single day. And one of those happens to be facial fillers and injectables. And in particular, lips. I’m sure most of you know, how popular of a procedure that is now to have your lips injected to make them look more youthful, to make them look fuller.

Well, let me just explain a couple of things too that I think is important. Part of the training, if you will, that I do across this area and before COVID-19, I used to go and travel around to train other physicians and nurses and physician assistants in how to do injectables.

And one of the things that became very, very obvious to me is that there are different techniques that people talk about all the time, and if you’re watching Instagrams and if you’re doing anything like that online, you’ll see that there’s a lot of different ways to have your lips injected.

But I wanna make sure that you understand two very important things about that. Number one, what’s the product that’s being placed in the lips? That’s a big question because there are a lot of different products that are on the market now that are all very good, but they all have a specific reason to be placed.

One could be, the patient just, which could be you, you just don’t like the vertical lip lines that are around your lips. And because of that, you may wanna use a special kind of a lip filler. Others of you may want to have your lips made bigger, bolder, more, you know, youthful overall, that may be another type of product. So that’s the first thing.

Make sure when you’re going to get your lips injected that you’re asking, what kind of product are you using and why are you choosing to use that. The second thing is the technique that’s being used to generate the look that you want is very important.

And when I’m still doing some of my trainings, either virtually or in-person, we definitely go through that all the time to make sure that we’re getting a very sharp border, so it’s almost like a lip liner for some patients. And in other patients, we’re using a technique that may actually roll out the top lip and roll down the bottom to get more of a pouting look.

So I think as you watch some of our Instagrams that are gonna be coming out and some of our videos, you’ll get a chance to see how I’m employing all those different techniques, based on what you, the patient wanna see. So stay tuned.

[Transcript]

Hi everyone. I want to make sure you know, that here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, we’ve been really, really, really careful about bringing in thread lifting. And you probably heard a lot about this out in the media, and in all the different kinds of Instagram and things that you may have been seeing.

But there are brand new threads, that we’re now using here that I think are revolutionary, and here’s why I want to talk about this. Thread lifting has been around for a while, but the types of threads that were being used, seem to not really be able to hold on to the tissue well enough, and here’s what I’m talking about with that.

A thread really is a piece of suture that, in the past, when you would place it and try to pull up on it it would hold on to the tissue, which worked fine, however, for a limited amount of time until it dissolved, and your body would kind of form some collagen around that to hold it in place.

Well, they’re brand new barbed type of suture, but now it’s a reinforced type of thread. And the reason why I want to bring this to your attention is we’re now using it in a lot of different procedures.

We want you to make sure that you’re staying tuned to watch a lot of our videos about what we’re doing to do a thread lift for the brow, a thread lift for the cheek, a thread lift for the jawline and neck, and these threads are now reinforced so they’ll hold the tissues a little bit better, for a longer period of time.

So that’ll even give your body more chance to like hold everything into place. Stay tuned.

Not Your Grandparent’s Hair Transplant

February 5, 2021 by Davis

Over the years, hair transplants have gotten a bad rep for their effectiveness & ability to appear natural. Since the dated technology proved to show inconsistent results, Dr. Steven Davis has typically stayed away from them. Aside from the incredible results of PRP, hair transplants have been avoided, until now!

Here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, we remain proud of the fact we have stayed ahead of the curve in the world of plastic surgery. With brand new technology surfacing, hair transplants are now being reintroduced to the practice! Fortunately, this updated procedure isn’t your grandparent’s hair transplant.

Stay tuned to learn more about hair transplants and how they have again been on the rise in 2021!

[Transcript]

You know here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery we’re always trying to stay ahead of the curve and come up with new things to do. So, I just wanted to talk with you about a new thing that we’re doing here.

Many years ago, I used to do a lot of hair transplants and I stopped doing it because I just didn’t think the technology was really enough to really bring it to the practice and to really take the time that I thought it was necessary to take in order to get a really, really natural result.

Well, I have to tell you something there’s brand new technology that we just brought into the practice, so that we’re gonna start doing hair transplants all over again, but it’s not going to be like your grandfather’s or your grandmother’s a hair transplantation.

This is gonna be something that women and men can both have done in either big areas or small patches where you may have started to see some hair loss. And the thing that it’s making it so exciting for me, is because it’s now going to be done here in a very elegant way.

And I want you to really stay tuned to hear about more how we’re going to introduce this to just everyone because we have patients that have been coming in very happy about the PRP that we’ve been doing to get their hair more youthful to make their hair look more robust and thicker.

But areas that are just really not growing a lot of hair we will have to do some sort of a transplant where we’re taking it from places that are growing real well and put them into areas that are more sparse. We can do that in an eyebrow. We could do it in different areas of the scalp in little alcoves and in this crown.

So, it doesn’t have to be the old-fashion hair transplants that you may have heard about. So stay tuned, because I’m very excited about it. Bye-bye.

Different Meanings Behind a “Breast Augmentation”

January 29, 2021 by Davis

Breast augmentation popularity is on the rise again! But, when you hear the phrase “breast augmentation,” a typical invasive surgery comes to mind more often than not. Join us as board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Davis clarifies several different meanings behind this constantly advancing procedure.

In terms of breast augmentation, someone could be referring to several different options. One of these options is using your own body’s fat for a breast augmentation, and another being a form of a breast lift to regain shape or size.

The next time you hear the phrase breast augmentation, make sure you keep in mind the many different meanings it can entail. To learn more about the various forms of breast augmentations, tune in to the video below or meet with Dr. Davis himself. A virtual consultation is just a click away!

[Transcript]

Hi, everyone. I wanted to talk to you today about breast augmentation. And when you hear that, a lot of people get confused about what that actually means. And I gotta be honest with you, nowadays there’s so many ways to enhance the breast. It may be confusing to almost everyone.

So, what I wanted to tell you is a breast augmentation really has to do with trying to make the breast look more full and more youthful. And words like perky, lifted, all those other things come into play when we’re thinking about a breast augmentation, but we can use your own body fat to give us a little bit more perkiness, or a little bit more fullness.

We can even use a breast implant, and over top of that actually use some of your own body fat to create a softness or more fullness to the breast.

So the next time you’re thinking or you hear about that word breast augmentation, don’t just necessarily jump to the fact that it may be a breast implant. It could be other things that we’re doing to get that look of a more lifted, perky breast. I wanna give you one more thing to think about.

This may be you if you have a lot of your own breast tissue that’s in a very low position on your chest wall, think about trying to utilize that breast tissue in the proper location.

And just having us here at Davis Cosmetic Plastic Surgery reshape the skin and lift everything, so now we’re only using your breast tissue, and we’re just taking your skin that’s in excess away. And now you also have somewhat of a breast augmentation.

So breast implants are very, very popular again, because we’ve really gone through a whole new generation of these new silicone gel breast implants. You may have heard the term gummy bear, breast implants.

Well, they have now made a whole new resurgence in this day and age. So if you’re interested in those types of things too, definitely check our website and, or come in for a consultation, or just talk to me in a virtual consultation, but all of those things, your own body fat, your own breast tissue, and the new silicone gel gummy bear implants are all in that realm of what we would call a breast augmentation. Talk to you later.
